Real Madrid have called a press conference for this evening amid mounting speculation it is to announce the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian led Real Madrid to the Champions League and the Spanish Cup last season, but Los Blancos ended the current campaign without a major trophy and saw bitter rivals Barcelona win La Liga, as well as book a spot in the Champions League final.

Now the club have confirmed that president Florentino Perez will hold a press conference at 19:30 CET.

Ancelotti has been widely tipped for the axe, despite insisting he is keen to remain at the Bernabeu. But his future remains unclear as he has been publicly supported by several players.

Real Madrid, who finished second in La Liga this season, have been linked with moving for Napoli coach Rafael Benitez.
