Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has warned Manchester United that no matter comments attributed to Nicolas Otamendi's agent, the Argentine defender will not leave for less than his €50m release clause.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is thought to have switched his attention to Otamendi after Mats Hummels indicated his preference is to remain at Borussia Dortmund this summer.

And Otamendi's agent has been quoted as saying the defender is keen to leave Valencia in search of pastures new.

But Salvo is clear that no matter what comments have been made, Otamendi is under contract to Los Che and will not be departing the Mestalla for a cent less than his €50m buy-out clause.

The president was quoted as saying by Valencia-based Super Deporte that if "Otamendi wants to go then a club need to pay at least the €50m and put the payment terms to Valencia."

Manchester United broke the British transfer record last summer as part of a spending spree which saw over £150m lavished on new faces at Old Trafford.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be prepared to meet Otamendi's €50m buy-out clause.
