Arsenal have re-established contact with Gonzalo Higuain's representatives ahead of a key meeting due to be held following Napoli's final Serie A match this weekend.

Higuain's future at Napoli is unclear, with the Azzurri lying in fourth spot in Serie A, outside the top three Champions League places, and the likely departure of coach Rafael Benitez to Real Madrid.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Higuain's brother Nicolas, who also acts as his agent, will lead a group of the striker's representatives into a meeting with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis after the weekend.

Higuain's representatives want to discover what plans De Laurentiis has for next season and Napoli's likely view on whether the striker should stay. The Argentine is currently happy in Italy, but wants to know how Napoli plan to move forward.

Against this backdrop there is interest in Higuain from Atletico Madrid, while Arsenal have also re-established contact with the striker's representatives; Arsenal were beaten to Higuain's signature by Napoli in 2013.
