Former Juventus defender Alessandro Birindelli believes that his old club should pull out all the stops to sign Oscar from Chelsea, despite the financial implications of a move.

Juventus scouts have watched the Brazilian midfielder regularly this season, but have received little encouragement from Chelsea to believe a deal is possible for Oscar.

Nevertheless, it has been claimed the Champions League finalists will try their luck and Birindelli, who turned out for the Bianconeri between 1997 and 2008, feels that Oscar is worth making an extra financial effort for.

"[I like Oscar] a lot and if I was to make an important economic investment I would do it on the Brazilian at Chelsea", he told Tutto Mercato.

The former full-back also warned Juventus that if midfielder Andrea Pirlo leaves he will be extremely tough to replace, although he does see an opening for Paul Pogba to fit into the role.

36-year-old Pirlo, who has been a sensation at Juventus since joining from AC Milan in 2011, has been linked with moving to the MLS.

"He would be impossible to replace", Birindelli warned.

"He has such class and personality.

"But if he were to leave, it could be that with [Claudio] Marchisio, Pogba could be moved in that direction."
