Arsenal target Neven Subotic has dealt his suitors a big blow by signing a two-year contract extension with his club Borussia Dortmund.

The 26-year-old has been courted over quite a few months by a number of English clubs, most notably Arsenal, who it has been claimed are keen to add experience to their defensive line-up.

However, Subotic's decision to extend his contract until June 2018 will certainly help to cool the interest in the former Serbian international.

Speaking during the occasion of signing his new contract, Subotic said that he was delighted to have signed the new contract with his club and is now dedicated towards improving his side in the future.

"I'm extremely happy about my decision to stay with BVB", Subotic told his club's official website.

"Dortmund has now become my second home. I'm now looking forward to a successful future with our team and our fantastic fans behind us.

"We have a great deal to do in the immediate future, and I want to make a big contribution."

Subotic's defensive partner Mats Hummels has also been linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal having shown keen interest in securing the services of the highly-rated defender since having taken over last year.
