Nani's name has cropped up in discussions between Manchester United and Benfica over the transfer of Nicolas Gaitan.

Manchester United's swoop for Benfica midfielder Gaitan is thought to be 80 to 90 per cent complete and the Argentine schemer is likely to cost the Red Devils a fee of around €30m.

However, with the deal not yet done, Nani could yet find his way into the package.

According to Portuguese outlet Bola Branca, Nani's name has come up in discussions between Benfica and Manchester United.

Nani is nearing the completion of a season-long loan from Manchester United at Sporting Lisbon, the side at which he was formed as a young player.

Any switch for the former Sporting Lisbon man to fierce rivals Benfica would no doubt be controversial, but Nani has not ruled out turning out for another Portuguese club.

Developments regarding Nani are not expected until after Sporting Lisbon take part in the Portuguese Cup final on Sunday, where Braga provide the opposition.

Gaitan's future is also expected to be finalised next week, with Benfica taking part in the Portuguese League Cup final on Friday.
