Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino sacked the club's new head of recruitment following just days in the job, it has been claimed.

Whites executive director Adam Pearson has been working hard behind the scenes trying to build up the structure of the club, with Cellino himself having complained at the state of Leeds when he returned from his Football League ban.

Pearson moved to bring in Steve Head, who held a recruitment role with Norwich City, and signed a contract with Leeds on Friday.

However, no sooner had Head taken his place at the Yorkshire giants than he was gone.

Head departed on a pre-booked holiday, leading to Cellino to ask where the head of recruitment was on Tuesday.

And according to journalist Simon Austin, Cellino did not like the reply, believing that Head should have been present and working for Leeds.

That led to Cellino tearing Head's contract up, bringing to an end his brief spell as head of recruitment at Elland Road.

It remains to be seen who the Whites will bring in to replace the former Norwich man.
