Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has expressed his delight at extending his contract by a year at Anfield.

Toure’s existing contract was due to expire this summer and the new deal will see him with the Merseyside giants until June 2016.

The Ivory Coast international joined Liverpool in the summer of 2013 from Manchester City, but has not been a regular presence in the team. This season he has made 21 appearances in all competitions.

After narrowly missing out on the league title last term, Liverpool finished the season in sixth following their 6-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke City on the final match day of the league season.

Toure has expressed his delight at extending his Anfield stay, saying that he likes the club a lot and everyone has been great for him at the Merseyside outfit.
