Lyon legend Juninho has told his former club to move for Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao this summer, arguing Les Gones must strengthen their squad due to being in the Champions League next season.

The Stade Gerland outfit finished second in Ligue 1 behind Paris Saint-Germain and as such will directly qualify for the Champions League group stage.

Lyon are having to fend off interest in Nabil Fekir and Alexandre Lacazette – and Juninho is clear Les Gones should not even entertain offers for the pair.

Instead they must add to their squad, the Brazilian believes, pointing to Falcao who is now back at Monaco after his loan from Manchester United expired as the perfect signing.

"All the clubs who are in the Champions League need to strengthen", he told RMC.

"Lyon should absolutely not sell Lacazette, nor Fekir, even if they get a good offer.

"They also need a striker, a centre forward that can allow Lacazette to adjust his position on the pitch.

"We must look to the market for Falcao, who is returning to Monaco and has not returned to his level. Why not take him?"

And if not Falcao, Juninho identified Chelsea striker Loic Remy as a good addition, noting the former Marseille striker is not a regular at Stamford Bridge.

"Loic Remy, who does not play at Chelsea [would be good].

"These are the types of players that Lyon need to recruit to be at that level [needed in the Champions League].

"With Fekir, Falcao and Lacazette you would have an attack that can play against anyone in Europe."

Lyon scored 72 goals in their 38 Ligue 1 games this season, eleven fewer than champions PSG and four fewer than fourth placed Marseille.
