Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has revealed that the club will try to negotiate a contract extension with Manchester United and Manchester City target Kevin De Bruyne at the end of the season.

The former Chelsea playmaker has caught the imagination of the some of the top clubs across Europe with his scintillating displays in the Bundesliga this season.

With 28 assists and 15 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions this term, the 23-year-old Belgian is one of the most sought-after creative talents in world football.

Clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been said to be keen to grab hold of him in the transfer window which opens next week.

The club sporting director further revealed that they will sit down with De Bruyne’s representatives at the end of the season to negotiate a fresh and improved contract for the player.

“I am quite sure he will play here next season”, Allofs told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

“Maybe we’ll sit down together in the weeks following the cup final [on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund].

“It is of course to improve his current contract and when we do that, it will also be accompanied by an extension.”

De Bruyne’s current deal with the Bundesliga outfit still has more than four years left on it.
