Outgoing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has penned a letter to Liverpool supporters and has thanked them for the support he has received over the course of his Anfield career.

Gerrard played his last game for the Reds against Stoke City on the final matchday of the current league season. In all, he has made 710 appearances for Liverpool and scored his 186th goal in his last outing for the club, a 6-1 defeat.




The 34-year-old joined the Merseyside outfit in 1987 and through the course of his long career, he has won two FA Cups and the Champions League in 2005.

Gerrard was given a warm send-off on his final Anfield appearance against Crystal Palace in Liverpool’s penultimate game of the season and he has expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the club faithful over the course of his long career.
 


“Saying goodbye hasn't been easy”, he wrote in his letter, that has been published on the club’s site.
