AC Milan have asked their former boss Carlo Ancelotti to take charge of the club for at least one season.

Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani and Ancelotti are currently locked in a meeting in Madrid’s Hotel Wellington as the Italian giants look to convince the former Chelsea boss to return to the San Siro this summer.

Ancelotti was sacked by Real Madrid on Monday and is believed to be keen to take a year-long sabbatical from football management.

However, AC Milan officials have been camping in the Spanish capital over the last few days and have been in constant touch with their former boss to convince him to return to the club.

The Rossoneri are desperate to replace Filippo Inzaghi with an experience coach this summer and according to Sky Italia, Galliani has asked the 55-year-old to take the reins of the club for at least one season.
