Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal feels that the Gunners will start as favourites against Aston Villa in the final of the FA Cup due to be played this weekend, adding that winning a second consecutive domestic cup would be a dream come true.

Arsene Wenger’s men have secured their second successive foray into the final of the FA Cup after they defeated Steve Bruce’s Hull City in the final at Wembley last May.

They have enjoyed a good run of form since the turn of the year and have finished the season in third. Arsenal will be playing Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa, who finished in 17th and struggled the entire season to stave off relegation.

In the prevailing circumstances, Monreal, who joined the Gunners from Malaga in 2013, feels that Arsenal will be favourites for the summit clash, but in a final nothing can be ruled out.

“We know it’s just one game and anyone can win the trophy”, the defender told Arsenal Player.

“At the moment we are the favourites but that doesn’t mean we will win the trophy. We have to work hard from the beginning, play together and compact, and if we do that we will have more chance of winning the cup.

“The team is excited knowing that we have the chance to win our second FA Cup in a row.

“It’s very important for us, the fans and the club and we want to repeat last year by winning again.

“It will be a dream for us again.”
