Ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has said that ending the season without the treble wouldn’t be a failure for the Catalan outfit.

Barcelona secured the league title with their defeat of Atletico Madrid in the penultimate week of the league campaign. They will contest the domestic cup against Athletic Bilbao on 30th May and play for the Champions League against Juventus in Berlin on 6th June.

The Catalan outfit are scheduled to play the Basques at the Camp Nou and Alba feels that even if the club miss out on a treble triumph, the season has been a successful one for Barcelona.

“We are having a very good season and it would not be a failure”, the left-back was quoted as saying by FIFA at a pre-match press conference.

“We are two games away from the treble, but I insist it would not be a failure. Of course, it would hurt to have reached these two finals and not to win them.

“We are playing at home and it's much better to play in our own ground.

Speaking of the domestic cup final, the 26-year-old acknowledged that Ernesto Valverde’s men will be no pushovers in the summit clash, but feels that Barcelona will be favourites playing on their home turf.

“It will be a very difficult game but we will go out to win. I don't think it's a double-edged sword as we don't have to travel and we know the pitch well.”
