Manchester United have stepped up on their interest in Bayern Munich’s Brazilian defender Dante.

It emerged earlier this week that Louis van Gaal has decided to reignite their interest in the 31-year-old Brazilian and the club have already initiated contact with the German champions.

Even though Dante played a key role in their title triumph, Bayern Munich are believed to be ready to sell the veteran defender in the summer as they look to revamp their rearguard.

Van Gaal wants to sort out his transfer business before their pre-season preparations begin and is ready to press the accelerator in his chase for Dante.

According to German magazine Kicker, the Red Devils are stepping up on their interest in the Brazilian and have made a concrete request to the Bavarians for the defender.

Dante has more than two years left on his contract but Bayern Munich’s willingness to sell him has made Manchester United confident about signing the defender for a reasonable transfer fee.

The 31-year-old has won three German league titles and one Champions League crown amongst various other honours since joining Bayern Munich in 2012.
