Former Leeds United striker Luciano Becchio has been released by Norwich City after agreeing to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old has struggled for form at fitness at the Canaries since joining up from Leeds in 2013. He spent time earlier this season on loan at Rotherham United, but injury curtailed his loan stint.

Now Becchio will not be advancing to the Premier League with the promoted Canaries and is instead looking for a new club.

Becchio was linked with a return to former club Leeds earlier this season and was on a list of potential targets put to the club's board by former head coach Neil Redfearn.

The 31-year-old turned out for the Whites between 2008 and 2013 and established himself as a cult figure at Elland Road.

He left for Norwich in 2013 in a deal which took striker Steve Morison the other way.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds will rekindle their interest in Becchio this summer, however they have a new head coach at the helm in the shape of Uwe Rosler.
