Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler has paid tribute to former Whites star Gunnar Halle for helping to organise an exciting pre-season friendly against Hoffenheim.

Rosler's men will lock horns with the Bundesliga outfit in Norway at Lillestrom's home ground on 25th July and the game will serve as important preparation for the 2015/16 Championship season.

Halle, a former Leeds defender who also served as Rosler's assistant at several Norwegian sides, played a big role in organising the friendly.

Rosler told his club's site: "Gunnar Halle helped us get another top opposition in Hoffenheim. They are one of the most exciting teams with the way they play in the Bundesliga."

The German head coach has also arranged for Leeds to play Athletic Bilbao while they are at a training camp in Austria, before they then take on Hoffenheim.

And Rosler argues he did not want to overload the schedule with friendly games as he believes time on the training pitch with the team is what he most needs.

"It will be a good trip against two top teams. I didn’t want another game because I think we have to put a lot of things on the training pitch.

"I will spend a lot of time with the players on and off the training pitch to lay the foundations technically and tactically", the former Wigan boss continued.

"Not having too many games allows us to do a lot of groundwork for what is needed in the season."
