Brondby sporting director Per Rud has warned Celtic that they will need to drop their asking price for Teemu Pukki if they want the Danish side to buy the striker.

Pukki linked up with Brondby on a season-long loan from Celtic last summer and has made a big impression in Denmark. Both Rud and the club's coach Thomas Frank want to keep hold of a player they rate highly.

However, Rud says the asking price Celtic have slapped on Pukki's head is too high and it must be lowered for the Finland international to make a permanent move to Brondby.

"We all agree that we want Pukki at the club, but we also agree, and Thomas Frank too, that we should not break the bank for him", Rud told MX.

"The price that has been set, we won't pay", the sporting director continued.

"So the ball is back with them [Celtic].

"Now they either go down with their price or they don't.

"If they do not, then there will be no Pukki and we're willing to accept that."

Pukki has bagged 13 goals in all competitions for Brondby so far this season, while he is also on the same page as the Danish club in wanting a permanent move.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic will drop their asking price for the former Schalke striker.
