Chelsea winger Christian Atsu has been loaned to Premier League new boys Bournemouth for the upcoming 2015/16 season.

Atsu, a Ghana international, spent last term on loan at Everton under Roberto Martinez, but could make only 13 appearances for the Toffees as he struggled to make his mark.

He has yet to play for Chelsea since joining from FC Porto in 2013 and will spend next term with the Cherries, aiming to help Eddie Howe's men survive in the English top flight.

Bournemouth are delighted to have secured the services of the 23-year-old, with chief executive Neill Blake believing the move shows how Howe can attract players to the south coast with the brand of football the club play.

The CEO told his club's site: "His signature is one that was highly sought after, having impressed in the Barclays Premier League on loan at Everton and on the international stage with Ghana, and it is a huge coup to us as a club that he was so keen to come here.

"We have said on many occasions that times have changed here and it is great that we are now able to attract players of Christian’s calibre, and that the Premier League champions see us as a club that can help develop one of their most exciting young talents.

"The manager has got the team playing an exciting brand of football which has earned us plaudits nationwide, and I am confident that Christian will flourish under his watchful eye and amongst this talented group."

Atsu will look to feature regularly for Bournemouth before an eventual return to Chelsea, when he will hope to feature for the Premier League champions at Stamford Bridge.
