Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo admits that his performances for Argentina in last summer’s World Cup brought him into the limelight.

Under Alejandro Sabella’s tutelage the Albiceleste made it to the final of the World Cup but were narrowly beaten by Germany at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

A number of Argentine players have spoken about the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup at the last hurdle but Rojo wants to look forward and wants to win the Copa America in Chile to get over last summer’s agony.

“The team want to get revenge for what happened in the World Cup [by winning the Copa America]”, Rojo told Pase a la Liga.

His performance during the World Cup in Brazil brought him to the attention of Manchester United and he moved to England from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
