West Ham United forward Nene has announced his departure from the club, saying that he will be looking for another team in the summer.

The Hammers signed the Brazilian – a free agent following his stint with Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa – in February this year and he went on to make eight Premier League appearances – all of which came as a substitute.

Nene wrote on his official website that he tried to be a professional during the course of his stint at Upton Park, but found few chances to prove his worth under manager Sam Allardyce, who has also left the club after their 12th place league finish in the Premier League.

The forward further added that his decision to depart from West Ham was borne out of his discussion with the club hierarchy and feels that it will be in his interests to seek another club.

“I came to West Ham very motivated and, before long, was completely adapted, training and playing at a high level, but ended up having few opportunities", he wrote on his official website.

“Still, I was professional to the extreme and did not create any friction, respecting the coach's decisions.

“However, when the season ended, I talked to the leaders of West Ham and decided it would be best to follow my career in another club.

"I never had physical problems and injuries were rare throughout my career. So I know I can keep playing at a high level for at most three or four seasons.

“From now on I will examine the proposals that arise, both in Europe as clubs of Brazilian football.”
