Arsene Wenger says he is "proud" of his Arsenal team after they destroyed Aston Villa 4-0 at Wembley today in the FA Cup final.

Arsenal started well and quickly looked the more threatening of the sides. However, they had to wait until the 40th minute to turn their good play into a goal when Theo Walcott hit a superb strike which flew into the back of the net.

The Gunners built on their good play in the second half and went 2-0 up when Alexis Sanchez unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside the area in the 50th minute.

Aston Villa hung on from conceding an instant third and started to enjoy some possession of their own, but any hopes of a comeback ended when Per Mertesacker headed the ball into the back of the net for Arsenal in the 62nd minute.

Salt was then rubbed into the Aston Villa wounds in the final minute of injury time when Arsenal grabbed a fourth with Olivier Giroud tapping home from close range.
