Memphis Depay insists he is still the same person despite having signed for one of the biggest clubs in world football, Manchester United.

The winger has swapped Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven for the English giants and it has been suggested the move will elevate his status with the Netherlands national team.

But Depay says the switch to Manchester United will not change him and he always continues to aim higher and higher on Netherlands duty regardless.

He told Dutch daily De Telegraaf: "I'm still the same Memphis.

"The older you get and the more experience you get, the higher your level is", he continued.

"Every time I come to the Dutch team, I set the bar a little higher for myself.

"This is normal and not because I have made a nice transfer", Depay, who finished as PSV's top scorer on their way to the title, concluded.

The winger has passed his medical checks and agreed personal terms with Manchester United on a deal which could net PSV as much as €32m.

However, until the transfer window opens next month, Manchester United cannot make Depay's move official. He is nevertheless the club's first signing of what is expected to be a busy summer transfer window.
