Inter coach Roberto Mancini is keen for Liverpool target Mateo Kovacic to remain at the club, but is striking a realistic note on his chances of keeping hold of the Croatian international.

Kovacic is a key target for Liverpool and it is thought talks have already taken place between Inter officials and their English counterparts over a potential deal.

Inter are keen to splash the cash in the summer, but need to bring in funds to help finance a spending spree.

Mancini would like to keep Kovacic, but appears to not know whether that will be possible, despite his importance to the Nerazzurri.

Asked about Kovacic in a press conference, Mancini replied: "He is the focus of our team and of our project, but it is difficult to know what will happen in the coming weeks.
