West Ham have swooped to snap up Birmingham City goalkeeper Darren Randolph, despite being without a manager at present following Sam Allardyce's departure.

The 28-year-old custodian is out of contract with Birmingham this summer and will now link up with the Hammers when his deal expires on 30th June.

Randolph is expected to provide cover for West Ham's number 1 Adrian, but warming the bench will be new to the Republic of Ireland international, who made 45 appearances for Birmingham last season.

However, Randolph felt the chance to link up with the Premier League side was one he could not pass on.

He told West Ham's site: "I felt like I couldn't turn down the chance."

Randolph could be in action for Ireland next month, having been named in the country's squad to face England in a friendly and then Scotland in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

The goalkeeper counts Charlton Athletic and Motherwell amongst his former clubs.
