Liverpool will hold talks with Manchester City midfielder James Milner this week as they look to sign the Englishman on a free transfer.

Milner is out of contract at Manchester City this summer and is assessing his options, with Liverpool firm favourites to snap up the 29-year-old.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been chasing Milner for months and talks will take place later this week, according to the BBC, as Liverpool make signing the player a priority.

Due to his contract status at Manchester City, Milner would move to Liverpool on a free transfer if an agreement can be found.

He would officially link up with the Reds on 1st July, as his Manchester City contract expires on 30th June.
