Celtic are preparing to make a bid for defender-cum-midfielder Erik Johansson, who currently turns out in Sweden for champions Malmo.

The Scottish champions are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers and have scouted the 26-year-old Sweden international on several occasions.

Now Celtic are preparing to make good on their interest by slapping in an official offer for Johansson, according to Swedish outlet Fotbolldirekt.

It is thought the Scottish giants are prepared to pay around £1.15m for the Sweden star as they seek to take him to Glasgow.

Johansson, who has won five senior caps for Sweden, started his career with Falkenbergs before moving on to GAIS.
