Leeds United are looking at alternatives to defender Sol Bamba amid talk that the Ivorian could head to Middlesbrough, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Whites signed Bamba on loan from Italian outfit Palermo in the winter transfer window and he instantly set about establishing himself as a fixture in the club's defence.

He signed off on his loan spell by blasting the running of the club, but the Whites remain keen on a deal. Leeds have an option to keep Bamba permanently, but that expires later this month and there is still no agreement on wages with the defender.

It has been claimed that Bamba's agent has been in touch with Middlesbrough over a potential move to link up with Aitor Karanka's men.

And Leeds are not sitting on their hands, with the Whites exploring alternative targets in a position they feel it is crucial to strengthen.
