Inter Milan have established contact with Arsenal target and Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia’s agents.

The Nerazzurri were keen to bring Yaya Toure to Milan this summer but their failure to do so has forced them to shift their focus to other targets.

Inter still want a powerhouse midfielder and are claimed to have turned their attention towards Monaco midfielder Kondogbia.

The 22-year-old Frenchman caught the imagination of some top clubs with his performances for Monaco as they impressed in the Champions League and also qualified for next’s season’s competition.

According to Sky Italia, the Nerazzurri have already pushed the accelerator for Kondogbia and have contacted the player’s representatives over the last few days.

However, the negotiations are expected to be tricky as Nerazzurri are only prepared to offer €25m, but Monaco are not willing to sell for anything less that €35m.

Arsenal’s interest in the player also complicates matters for Inter as the Gunners can offer Champions League football but the Italian giants have not even qualified for the Europa League. Liverpool have also been linked with the player.

However, Nerazzurri will continue to probe Monaco for Kondogbia over the next weeks in the hope of a breakthrough.
