Jack Wilshere has been hit by a charge of misconduct by the English Football Association for leading anti-Tottenham Hotspur chants during Arsenal's FA Cup victory parade.

The midfielder sparked controversy with the chants directed at Arsenal's bitter rivals and the FA has quickly acted to bring a charge against him for his actions, despite Wilshere apologising.

The FA announced via its official site: "Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct in relation to Arsenal’s FA Cup celebrations on Sunday 31 May 2015.

"It is alleged his conduct in making and/or inciting certain comments during the club’s open bus trophy tour was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute."

English football's governing body has given Wilshere until 6pm on Wednesday 10th June to respond to the charge made against him.

A product of Arsenal's youth academy, Wilshere made his senior debut for the Gunners in 2008, but has seen his career affected by injuries which have interrupted his progress.

The England international missed several months earlier this season after picking up a bad ankle injury, which required surgery, against Manchester United.

He will hope to avoid being banned for his comments, as that would rule him out of the start of Arsenal's 2015/16 campaign.
