Liverpool will push ahead with a deal for Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic following confirmation that Brendan Rodgers will remain as the club's manager.

The Reds are keen on Kovacic, while Inter are also looking to sell in order to help fund their own summer transfer business.

Should Rodgers have been axed as Liverpool boss, the Reds' would have paused their efforts to sign the midfielder.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Rodgers being confirmed in his post has given new impetus to the negotiations.

Rodgers is desperate for Liverpool to sign Kovacic, who he sees as a vital part of his midfield at Anfield next season, especially with the departure of Steven Gerrard.
