Despite Roberto Mancini's denials, Inter are still making plans to use a cash windfall from Liverpool for Mateo Kovacic.

Inter coach Mancini last night denied the existence of discussions with Liverpool over the Croatian midfielder, a player the Nerazzurri are thought to be willing to sacrifice to help fund their own summer transfer business.

Liverpool have so far been unwilling to meet Inter's asking price for Kovacic, but the Nerazzurri still appear confident of a sale.

Indeed, according to Italian daily Tuttosport, Inter have earmarked some of the money received from selling the midfielder to Liverpool for their own purchase of Ivan Perisic of Wolfsburg.

The Serie A side are pushing ahead with a move for the Croatian winger and want to use money from selling his countryman to fund the swoop.

Perisic, 26, clocked up 35 appearances in all competitions for Wolfsburg this season, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists for his team-mates.

The Croatian is under contract at the Volkswagen Arena until the summer of 2017 and is thought to be highly rated by Mancini, who wants him at the San Siro.
