Manchester City have made a late entry into the race to sign FC Porto marksman Jackson Martinez.

The Colombia international is being chased by AC Milan, who are ready to meet the full €35m buy-out clause in his contract, while he has also been linked with Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

But another club have entered the mix, according to Sky Italia, in the form of Manchester City, who are ready to offer Martinez a yearly wage which tops that on offer at the San Siro.

Arsenal at present appear to be trailing behind AC Milan in the race, but the Rossoneri could yet find themselves usurped by Manchester City, which would mean Martinez playing his football in England next term.

The Citizens finished second in the Premier League this season and have admitted to being disappointed with a campaign which did not provide any silverware.

Now they are looking at pairing Martinez up with Sergio Aguero to create a strike force to put fear into the hearts of Premier League defences.

Martinez has resolved to leave FC Porto this summer as he looks to take the next step in his career.
