Martin Odegaard has admitted he did speak to Celtic manager Ronny Deila recently, after the pair were pictured sitting just four seats apart at Stromsgodset's Norwegian league match against Lillestrom.

Deila managed Odegaard at Stromsgodset, but left the Norwegian side last year to take over at Celtic. He tried to tempt Odegaard to Scotland, however Real Madrid won the race for the 16-year-old's signature earlier this year.

But Deila has not given up and Celtic are now in the market to take Odegaard on a season-long loan from Los Blancos, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers and potentially a group stage campaign.

The midfielder insists though that the pair did not talk about a switch at the Norwegian top flight game on 31st May.

"We talked. Of course we did. It's quite natural we do when we meet", Odegaard explained to Dagbladet.

"No, he didn't [try to convince me to join Celtic].

"Yes, it [a move to Celtic] is [speculation]", he added.

Real Madrid are thought to be ready to loan Odegaard out for next season, something which will encourage Celtic.

However, the midfielder is going on Los Blancos' pre-season tour, meaning any decision over his future would only come towards the latter part of the transfer window.
