Andreas Christensen is delighted to have been able to lock horns with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba in training at the Stamford Bridge club, feeling he learned a lot through playing with the veteran striker.

Drogba returned to Chelsea for a second stint last summer, but is departing this summer as he looks to play for one final season as a first choice pick, something which was beyond reach with the Blues.

For Christensen, having been able to see Drogba at close quarters and lock horns with him in training was a pleasure and something he will forever cherish.

He told Danish outlet Bold: "For me, he has been a good opponent in training.

"He has tried everything in this game. He is good at bringing the group together, talking and joking with everyone, young and old", the defender added.

And Christensen does not begrudge Drogba heading elsewhere for his final season as a player, especially because he expects him to return to Stamford Bridge in some capacity when he hangs up his boots for good.

"He has meant a lot to the club, but we would still like to play for another season and therefore he's going", the starlet explained.

"But I think he will come back for another role at the club when he stops his career.

"The club loves him, the supporters love him and he loves the club and the supporters. He is probably one of the most important players for the club historically."

Christensen made three senior appearances for Chelsea this season, one in the FA Cup, one in the League Cup and one in the Premier League.
