England manager Roy Hodgson has struck a confident and upbeat note over his Three Lions squad ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia today.

The match against Slovenia comes exactly a year after England trained in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup and manager Hodgson is more than pleased with the changes in personnel.

Speaking to the press ahead of the game, Hodgson said via the FA's site: "It's a very different team to the team we had a year ago."

The likes of Fabian Delph, Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin have been included in the national team in the past year and Hodgson believes in the quality of the new talent and the progress they could make.

"I believe it's an exciting team and a team with a large margin of progression”, said Hodgson, reiterating his belief in the new-look side.

With England having not lost a single game since the World Cup, the 67-year-old has enough reasons to remain satisfied.

"It's a team that will grow and will get better and I, as a coach, have got to be satisfied on their behalf that it is a season unbeaten before the final game."

England will be the visitors against Slovenia at the Stadion Stozice and will look to maintain their perfect record in the qualifiers, having won all of their five matches so far.

With 24 teams in next year’s finals, England are virtually assured of their place irrespective of their result against Slovenia, but will have added incentive to finish the campaign unbeaten.
