Liverpool and West Ham linked Lille defender Simon Kjaer is close to joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old Danish defender has long been expected to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer and he has been heavily linked with a move to England over the last few months.

Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton have been touted to be interested in signing the Dane from Lille but it seems he is on his way to Turkey.

Despite the strong interest from England, Fenerbahce are set to win the chase for Kjaer and according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, he is close to agreeing a three-year deal with the Turkish giants.

The Turkish giants have made some swift moves in the transfer market to beat off competition from English clubs and are seemingly on their way to signing the Dane this summer.
