England manager Roy Hodgson is hopeful of seeing Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere playing plenty of Premier League and international matches if he manages to stay fit.

The 23-year-old was in hot form as he scored a brace in the weekend's 3-2 win against Slovenia in a Euro 2016 qualifier, thus ending an injury plagued season on an optimistic note.

The England international missed a chunk of the 2014/15 season with multiple injuries, having managed only 14 Premier League appearances of the 38 on offer.

However, his national team manager is optimistic about seeing great things from him in the future. The only thing that Hodgson feels Wilshere will have to keep in mind is the fact that he stays clear of major injuries.

The veteran manager also took time to praise Wilshere's performance, a performance that Hodgson feels his country enjoyed.

"I'm very happy with Jack and the goals he's scored", Hodgson was quoted as saying by ITV.

"In particular, I am happy with his performance. In the second half he was controlling that midfield, it was a performance we've seen from him for a while now.

"If we can keep him fit and he can get plenty of Premier League matches and international matches, at his young age we think we've got a good player going forward."

By virtue of the win, the Three Lions have now managed to win all six of their Group E matches in their Euro 2016 qualifiers and are the present table toppers with 18 points.
