Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoglu has stressed that the Turkish champions are not pursuing Manchester United striker Robin van Persie as he feels the Dutchman will be too expensive.

With his contract at Manchester United expiring at the end of next season, Van Persie is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford.

And there is speculation that Louis van Gaal might be ready to listen to offers for a player who has struggled with injuries and form over the last couple of seasons.

Though Van Persie has stressed that he is relaxed about his future at Manchester United, the speculation surrounding it continues to grow and there are rumours that Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are keen to sign the Netherlands captain.

However, the Galatasaray manager has sought to distance his club from the rumours and said that Van Persie will be too expensive a deal for them.

Hamzaoglu was quoted as saying by Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur: “Van Persie is not on the wish list of the club.

“Any deal for him would be too expensive.”

After a superlative first season at Manchester United in 2012/13 when he top scored in the Premier League to help the club lift their 20th top flight title, Van Persie’s form has declined.

Under former manager David Moyes he struggled with injuries last season and this term not much has improved under Louis van Gaal, where he has just 12 goals in all competitions for the club.

With the Red Devils believed to be after Tottenham hotshot Harry Kane, Van Persie’s days may be numbered at Old Trafford.
