Aston Villa have joined a group of clubs which includes Leeds United in showing interest in striker Felipe Avenatti.

The Uruguayan currently turns out in Italy for Serie B side Ternana, but has caught the eye of a number of clubs due to his performances in the Italian second tier last term.




At six foot, five inches tall, Avenatti cuts an imposing figure and is being looked at seriously by several clubs.

According to Italian outlet TernanaNews.it, Aston Villa have lodged an enquiry for the Uruguayan and join Leeds, Cagliari and Frosinone in being keen on Avenatti.
 

 

The 22-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions for Ternana last term, hitting the back of the net on 13 occasions.

Avenatti is locked down on a contract with Ternana running until 2017, leaving the Serie B club in a strong position.

The tall striker started his career in his native Uruguay with River Plate Montevideo before being spotted by Ternana and whisked away to Italy in 2013.

Avenatti has represented Uruguay at both Under-20 and Under-21 level.
