New York City FC are close to sealing deal for Italy legend and Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

After four successful seasons at Juventus, the veteran midfielder is on the verge of packing his bags for the US as MLS outfit New York City are close to reaching an agreement for his transfer.

The MLS side, who is already set to welcome Frank Lampard this summer, are on the verge of another coup as according to the New York Times, they are finalising the transfer for Pirlo from Juventus.

It has been claimed by the American daily that New York City will announce the signature of the 36-year-old midfielder at the end of this week.

Pirlo joined the Bianconeri from AC Milan in 2011 and has won four league titles, a Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italianas with the club.

He also played in the Champions League final loss to Barcelona earlier this month, which could turn out to be his last appearance in a Juventus shirt.

An Azzurri legend in his own right, Pirlo has earned 115 caps for Italy and was part of their 2006 World Cup winning team.
