Chelsea starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek has revealed that he idolised Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard when he was growing up.

Loftus-Cheek, a product of the Chelsea youth academy, made rapid strides with the Blues and last season he made his Premier League debut against Manchester City in January.

Through the course of the 2014/15 campaign he went on to make three league appearances and also appeared once in the Champions League for the Pensioners.

He also helped the Chelsea Under-21 team win the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup, in a hugely successful campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old, when asked in a Q&A with FATV, whom he idolised growing up, revealed: “It was Steven Gerrard.”
