Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet is expected to undergo a medical today at West Ham before signing a five-year contract with the club.

It emerged yesterday that the Hammers have put in a €15m bid for the 28-year-old midfielder and he was considering a switch to east London this summer.

The deal has picked up pace since yesterday and it has been claimed that Payet cut short his holiday in Mauritius last night to take a flight to London.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the midfielder is expected to meet his agent, who has already arrived in London, today and undergo a medical at West Ham.

He is set to complete the move and put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Hammers worth €2.5m per season.

Despite Marseille being ready to cash in on Payet, the French club would not be disappointed to see his switch to the Hammers fall through at the last minute.

Payet has been a key figure for Marseille since arriving at the club for Lille in 2013 and is claimed to have rejected offers from Dinamo Moscow and Swansea City last summer.
