West Ham United are on the brink of confirming that Dimitri Payet has joined the club from French giants Marseille.

The news was announced by co-chairman David Sullivan's son Jack, who revealed that the midfielder has now passed a medical with the London side.

All that remains is for Payet to put pen to paper on a contract to confirm his switch to West Ham.

Sullivan took to Twitter to write: "We expect Payet to sign in the next hour or two, as he's past [sic] his medical, read it first, on the WHU official website."

Marseille have been left fuming at losing Payet, having maintained that they did not want to see the midfielder leave the Stade Velodrome this summer.

But the French club have not been able to compete with the wages being offered at Upton Park.

Payet is thought to have been offered a deal with a yearly salary of €2.5m, too good to turn down.

He is now set to link up with Slaven Bilic's men and could feature in West Ham's first round Europa League qualifying tie, which is set for 2nd July.
