Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne are in talks with former Tottenham Hotspur full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

The defender is on the radar of two Turkish clubs in the shape of Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, while he also has interest from Greece.

But according to French daily Le Progres, Saint-Etienne are in the running for Assou-Ekotto, who is tempted by the prospect of turning out for Les Verts.

Assou-Ekotto is a free agent after being released by Tottenham.

The Cameroon international started his career in France with Lens before moving on to Tottenham in 2006.

He spent a season on loan at QPR in the 2013/14 campaign after slipping out of favour at White Hart Lane and was released by Spurs in February this year.

Saint-Etienne are hunting a replacement for Franck Tabanou, who Les Verts sold to Premier League outfit Swansea City earlier this summer.

The French outfit are hopeful of seeing off competition for Assou-Ekotto, but a deal is by no means done and dusted yet.
