West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool and Newcastle linked defender Aymen Abdennour from Monaco.

The Tunisian centre half has been linked with clubs such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Tottenham and his agent has claimed that some of his suitors have already made their interest in his client known.

Newcastle United have reportedly tabled a €17m bid with Monaco for the 25-year-old and West Ham are the latest club to show an interest in the player.

According to Sky Italia, the Hammers have made some rapid progress in their pursuit of the Tunisian and have already opened talks with Monaco over an €18m move for Abdennour.

While the Ligue 1 side are asking for a fee of around €20m for the player, negotiations between both the clubs are expected to drag on for the next few days. However, West Ham are said to be closing in on a deal for the defender.
