Arsenal are edging towards lodging an official bid for Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam, but another Premier League side are monitoring the situation.

The Gunners are firm fans of the 24-year-old Algeria international and according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, are on the verge of submitting an official offer to take him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

But there is another unnamed Premier League club who could yet rival the Gunners for Ghoulam, something which may add a twist to the saga.

Napoli snapped up the defender at just the start of last year from French Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne.

He made 39 appearances for Napoli last term, his first full season with the Italian giants, providing his team-mates with five assists in the process.
