Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has stressed that it would require a huge transfer fee for any club to sign Bas Dost from them this summer.

Struggling to get into the playing squad during the first half of last season, Dost took the Bundesliga by storm in the latter half of the campaign with his prolific goalscoring.

Despite making a huge impact last season, the Dutchman has indicated that he would not shy away from a transfer this summer and clubs such as Newcastle, Southampton and Borussia Dortmund are reported to be keen to sign him.

However, the Wolfsburg sporting director said that it would require a hefty transfer fee for any club to prise him away from the Volkswagen Arena this summer.

Referring to the fee Liverpool paid for Roberto Firmino, Allofs told Wolfsburger Nachrichten: “I read sums of around €11m to €12m being talked about for Bas.

“But then I refer to Roberto Firmino and say they will have to get used to other amounts if some club really want to buy him.”

Contrary to popular belief, Allofs feels that Dost is happy at Wolfsburg and stressed that there is no indication that he wants to leave the club this summer.

“Last week, we spoke to his agent and there is no indication that Bas wants to leave.

“On the contrary, he feels happy at Wolfsburg.”
