Douglas Costa has confirmed that Bayern Munich are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign him but stressed that there is no agreement in place.

The Brazilian has been looking for a way out of Shakhtar Donetsk since January and his preferred destination was believed to be Chelsea.

However, it emerged last week that Bayern Munich are in pursuit of the 24-year-old winger and there was speculation that the player has already reached a verbal agreement with the club for a transfer this summer.

Kia Joorabchian, Costa’s agent, has stressed that there is no such agreement in place but confirmed the German champions’ interest in his client.

The winger himself said that the Bavarians have opened talks with Shakhtar Donetsk, but stressed that a deal is yet to be agreed.

He also added that he knows very little about the negotiations as he was busy with Brazil’s Copa America campaign.

“So far, there is no agreement”, Costa told Sport Bild.

“The talks have been held between my club and Bayern; I know nothing more than that Bayern are interested in me.

“I was focused on the Copa America. After a while, I’ll talk to my advisor.”

He clocked up 33 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk last season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists for his team-mates.
