Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel and Barcelona’s Alex Song have emerged as midfield targets for Inter Milan this summer.

The Nerazzurri are set to miss out on the signature of Marseille’s Giannelli Imbula who is expected to snub the Italians for a move to FC Porto.

The club are said to have given up hope of signing the Frenchman and are recalibrating their transfer radar to identify other targets.

Galatasaray’s Felipe Melo is claimed to be their top target at the moment, but according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, Chelsea midfielder Mikel and Barcelona’s Song are also in the mix.

Mikel is no longer a regular at Chelsea and at 28, the Nigerian could be ready to move away from Stamford Bridge this summer in search of more first team football.

Song had an impressive loan spell at West Ham last season and though the club are keen to sign him on a permanent deal, they are yet to reach an agreement with Barcelona.

Roberto Mancini wants Melo, who worked under him at Galatasaray, but Mikel and Song are his back-up options should a deal for the Brazilian fail to materialise.
